Access Statement For Polemonium Plantery
Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home based, 3 bedroom bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.


Pre-Arrival

o There is a bus stop 220 metres from the entrance along level paths and there is a frequent bus service
o The main train station is 15 minutes away by car.
o We have a website with photographs of each guest room, all on the first floor

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

o There is ample free car parking on the wide road alongside the premises, with low kerbs and no gradients.
o Assistance with luggage is always offered to all guests.
o The entrance is accessed along concrete paths with two seating areas through the guest garden, where there is one step with a threshold into the guest dining room. The paths are lit by solar powered lights at night.
o Guide dogs are welcome, and feeding and water bowls provided.


Main Entrance & Reception

o Entrance is into guest dining area and reception.
o Recycled paper Pad and pen on arrival, staff on duty at all times.
o Guests escorted to rooms and facilities explained.
o Corridors have Mahogany dado rails, contrasting colours on walls.


Public Areas - General (Internal)

o Guest dining room has wooden floor with fitted carpets to the 14 stairs, corridors and guest bedrooms. Bathrooms all tiled.


Public Areas - WC

o Guest bedrooms are en suite with one additional W.C. in the central corridor, but no downstairs toilets.


Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe

o Breakfast is served in the breakfast room on the ground floor.
o Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
o Circular table has underspace of 67cm high (legs on each corner). There are chairs without arms which can be moved.
o We do not play background music in any area of the B&B
o Full waitress service is available.
o Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and all other diets catered for.
o The bed and breakfast is no smoking throughout the premises.


Laundry

o Drying facilities provided in guest corridor next to bathroom. Washable nappy service provided free of charge.


Shop

o Traidcraft fairtrade shop in guest garden providing energy bars and fairtrade supplies.


Bedrooms

o All 3 bedrooms are on the first floor, with a secure lockable door in the family suite.
o Televisions all have remote controls and teletext/subtitles.
o A bell is provided in the central corridor to call for assistance.
o Carpets are all fitted short pile, with tiled floors in bathrooms.
o Lights are fitted with low energy bulbs and 2 rooms have dimmer switches for overhead lighting. The Birch room has a double four poster bed with good access from both sides, and the Rowan and Lavender rooms have standard single beds.


Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite ]

o West wing bathroom.
o Door width 78cm, inward opening with wide access
o The shower cubicle has a step/edge of 14cm high.
o The bath edge is 47cm high
o The basin has clear underspace. It is 86cm high.
o The toilet has with available free space of 71cm to the right. The toilet is 46cm high
o Good colour contrast of floors and mahogany bath panels.
o Lavender room en suite.
o Electric radiator to left of toilet, 21cm step up into shower cubicle with contrast colour strip at 1m height.

Attractions

o Guided tours of 5 National Plant collections and organic garden and nursery given on request free of charge.

Grounds and Gardens

o Guest garden laid out as a sensory garden with small wildlife pond in cottage garden nursery area, all paths on one level apart from one area with 10cm step.

Additional Information

o Birch and Rowan rooms are adjoining with good access for carers.
o Fridge facilities are available in the kitchen adjoining reception downstairs.
